Notes for the book....

Over my years in education, I have commented on many occasions the need to write a book on my experiences and the stories that I have encountered. There are many funny stories, many sad stories, many shocking stories, but they all are true and I'm going to start writing them here. I'd love to hear your stories, so please feel free to share them.

Questions you should not ask during an observation or while reading a book:
During a recent classroom observation, a teacher was asking her 3rd grade students about Martin Luther King Jr. Somehow, she got around to asking "What do we refer to black students as?"...A child answered African-Americans. She then asked, "What do we call white students?" No answers. She provided some assistance..."It starts with a 'c'"
One hand goes up, and the child responds, "Cracker?" Somehow, the teacher was able to brush it off with a "no that's not it.." without breaking out in laughter. I just put my head down and kept typing, barely keeping my laughter to myself.
